The Rutland Belle

Rutland Water is a large, horseshoe-shaped reservoir set within three thousand acres of beautiful countryside in the east midlands region of England. Anglian Water owns and administers the reservoir, and around its twenty-five mile perimeter there are four leisure areas. Three are on the north shore at Barnsdale, Whitwell and Sykes Lane. Rutland Belle plies from Whitwell on the North Shore.

The vessel holds insurance and complies with marine safety regulations. The boat is operated by a licenced Boatmaster and a Crewman.

Access: Rutland Water and ‘Rutland Belle’ have been recognised and acknowledged by the Tourist Board and Rutland Access for efforts made to provide easy access for all.

Rutland Belle at The Harbour, Whitwell, North Shore, has a vehicle drop-off area and a boarding lift for disabled access. The approach has ramps and handrails and a special bridging-plate means there is no gap to breach between the landing stage and the boat. For those unable to manage the three steps down inside the boat, the crew are happy to operate the hydraulic lift, designed to take wheelchairs.
